Originally composed for oboe d’amour and strings, Bach also adapted Concerto No. IV as a harpsichord concerto. Steven Paxton has created nine different transcriptions for solo flute or solo saxophone (soprano, alto or tenor) with piano or percussion ensemble accompaniment.
