FLIP THROUGH SCORE PAGES
Evocative and sometimes unsettling, Elegy was originally scored for viola and keyboard (synthesizer or piano) and was composed as underscoring for Lady Macbeth’s sleepwalking scene (Act V, scene i—“Out, damned spot! out, I say!”) in Shakespeare’s play. This version for solo piano or keyboard synthesizer offers considerable latitude for the keyboardist to explore different timbres and effects, especially in the fast moving middle section. However, it may in fact be most effective when played on acoustic piano.
