Violet Nicolson (Adela Florence Cory Nicolson) was an early 20th century British poet who spent most of her life in India. Her poems are evocative of the mystery and romance of her beloved India, colored with her own sadness and yearning. These settings of two of her poems capture that spirit with delicate poignancy in JUST IN THE HUSH BEFORE THE DAWN, and with exuberant longing in VALGOVIND’S BOAT SONG.
