WAKE-UP AND DANCE

Steven Glaser, piano

WAKE-UP AND DANCE was composed by Steven Paxton as part of a National Endowment for the Arts Composers Fellowship, and dedicated to pianist Steven Glaser. After a slow, atonal introduction, the piece unfolds as series of rhythmically exciting and virtuosic tonal patternistic structures built around an always present eighth-note figure.
