IN PACE, IN IDIPSUM

A performance edition for acapella SATB mixed chorus of John Taverner‘s choral respond, composed in the 1520’s. Taverner’s original was scored for boys’ and men’s voices; this edition has been adapted for mixed chorus, and includes a piano reduction for rehearsal purposes. This early 16th century Tudor polyphony unfolds beautifully and smoothly, and is perhaps more accessible to a wide range of singers than the more florid polyphony of both earlier and later eras of Latin church music.
